PreRequirements:

Minimum age: 12 years old.
Certified Open Water Diver (or equivalent certification).
General good health and adequate swimming skills.

What you will learn:

The SDI Drift Diver course focuses on equipping divers with the skills and knowledge needed to safely enjoy the excitement of drift diving:
Drift Diving Basics: Understand the principles and unique challenges of diving in strong currents.
Buoyancy Control: Learn to maintain buoyancy while moving with the current.
Navigation Techniques: Master navigation and communication in dynamic environments.
Entry and Exit Strategies: Develop techniques for safely entering and exiting the water during drift dives.
Safety Procedures: Learn how to use surface marker buoys (SMBs) and manage emergencies in drifting conditions.

Course content:

Knowledge Development:
Classroom sessions on current patterns, site selection, and drift diving equipment.
Discussion of environmental considerations and marine life interaction during drift dives.
Confined Water Training (Optional):
Practice buoyancy control and SMB deployment in a controlled environment.
Open Water Dives:
Dive 1: Practice entry and exit techniques, buoyancy control, and current management.
Dive 2: Navigate and communicate effectively while moving with the current, focusing on group coordination and safety.
Certification:
Final assessment of skills and knowledge.
Certification as an SDI Drift Diver, enabling you to explore current-heavy dive sites worldwide.
