PreRequirements:
Previously certified as an SDI Advanced Adventure Diver (or equivalent certification).
Minimum age of 15 years old.
Current certification in CPR and First Aid (within the last 24 months).
General good health and adequate swimming skills.
What you will learn:
The SDI Rescue course specialties focus on preparing divers to manage emergencies with confidence and skill:
Self-Rescue Skills: Learn techniques to manage stress and prevent emergencies.
Diver Assists and Rescues: Master safe approaches and assists for distressed divers.
Panic Management: Identify and effectively handle panicked divers underwater and at the surface.
Search and Recovery: Conduct search patterns for missing divers.
Emergency Response Planning: Develop strategies for handling diving emergencies, including oxygen administration and evacuation procedures.
Course content:
Day 1: Theory and Confined Water Training
Morning Session: Classroom Training
Introduction to rescue principles, diver psychology, and emergency management.
Risk assessment and dive planning for emergency scenarios.
Afternoon Session: Pool/Confined Water Practice
Self-rescue drills and stress management techniques.
Simulated assists for tired and panicked divers.
Practice underwater search patterns and equipment recovery.
Day 2: Open Water Scenario Training
Morning Session: Rescue Scenarios
Practice surface and underwater rescues with real-world simulations.
Response to unresponsive divers, including emergency ascent techniques.
Afternoon Session: Emergency Management
Full dive emergency simulations, including victim recovery and equipment handling.
Coordination with dive teams and communication during rescue scenarios.
Wrap-Up
Post-dive debriefing with personalized feedback.
