PreRequirements:
Minimum age: 18 years old.
Certified Open Water Diver (or equivalent certification).
General good health and swimming skills.
Previous experience with buoyancy control is recommended.
What you will learn:
The SDI/TDI Sidemount Diver course covers the following:
Equipment Setup: Learn to configure and adjust sidemount harnesses, tanks, and regulators.
Trim and Buoyancy Control: Master proper body positioning and buoyancy for sidemount diving.
Gas Management: Techniques for monitoring and switching gas supply from sidemount cylinders.
Safety and Problem Solving: Handle emergencies like entanglement or gas-sharing in sidemount configurations.
Advantages of Sidemount Diving: Experience improved mobility, reduced drag, and better equipment redundancy.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to dive confidently and efficiently with a sidemount setup.
Course content:
Day 1: Classroom and Pool Training
Introduction to sidemount diving and equipment overview.
Hands-on training in configuring and donning sidemount gear.
Confined water session to practice buoyancy control, trim, and gas-switching techniques.
Day 2: Open Water Dives
Dive 1: Skill practice in an open water environment, including emergency drills and gas management.
Dive 2: Exploration dive to refine sidemount techniques while navigating a dive site.
Dive 3: Final assessment dive to demonstrate mastery of sidemount diving skills.
Debrief and certification as an SDI/TDI Sidemount Diver.
