PreRequirements:

Minimum age: 18 years old.
Certified Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent certification).
General good health and swimming skills.
Experience with deep diving or technical diving is recommended.

What you will learn:

The TDI Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Diver course is designed for advanced divers looking to enhance their underwater exploration capabilities:
DPV Technology: Learn about the mechanics, features, and limitations of underwater propulsion vehicles.
Equipment Handling: Properly set up, maintain, and troubleshoot DPV systems for technical diving applications.
Extended Dive Planning: Plan dives that maximize the DPV’s range and battery capacity while ensuring safe return points.
Advanced Buoyancy Control: Master buoyancy adjustments and trim to optimize DPV performance in various conditions.
Emergency Procedures: Learn to manage DPV malfunctions, towing techniques, and diver recovery scenarios.
Team Diving Strategies: Develop effective communication and coordination skills while using DPVs in a team environment.

Course content:

Knowledge Development:
Classroom instruction on DPV technology, operational safety, and extended range dive planning.
Risk assessment and contingency planning for technical DPV diving.
Confined Water Practice:
Familiarization with DPV operation, including controlled maneuvers and buoyancy control.
Simulated emergency drills, such as towing a disabled DPV and recovering from entanglements.
Open Water Dives:
Dive 1: Practice essential DPV handling skills, including safe entry, exit, and basic navigation.
Dive 2: Execute a long-range dive with focus on navigation, battery management, and team coordination.
Dive 3: Simulate advanced scenarios, such as gas-sharing with a DPV and managing malfunctions at depth.
Final Assessment:
Demonstrate competency in DPV operation, dive planning, and emergency response techniques.
Certification as a TDI DPV Diver, qualifying you to use DPVs in both recreational and technical diving contexts.
